Accessories - The Safety Harness Lead as a Tie-Down
For an additional $3.00 (Cdn or US), you can have an extra buckle piece sewn to the O-ring at the back of your harness and the matching buckle piece be included on the lead.
One of my customers came up with this idea and asked me to add it to the Safety Harness he ordered. The extra buckle allows the lead of the harness to be used as a tie-down and works as follows:
To use the Safety Harness lead as a tie-down
- seat your child in their stroller/chair
- wrap the lead around the back of the stroller/chair and secure the buckle by clipping the buckle piece on the lead into the buckle piece on the back of the harness
- tighten the strap to secure your child in their stroller/chair
Feedback from customers who have ordered this extra buckle has been amazing.
Mealtimes and homework times have been much less stressful on the entire family because the child has been secured in their chair and cannot wander.
Please note!
If you plan on using the Safety Harness lead as a tie-down with a number of different chairs in your home and community, I would recommend the chair/stroller strap instead of, or in addition to, this extra buckle piece.
Similarly, if you have a larger or older child-to-adult who is likely to exert excessive force on the lead when secured to their chair, the chair/stroller strap would be more appropriate simply because it can take more abuse than the Safety Harness lead.
If the Safety Harness lead catches and tears on metal joints or screws that are components of the chair, the lead will be ruined and the harness will need to be replaced (expensive!).
If the chair/stroller strap or loops catch on the chair and become ruined, it is easy and cheap to order replacements.
